The Challenge

Creating case studies without babysitting

When Chantelle Little, Founder of Tiller Digital, saw how some of her clients in the tech industry were successfully driving sales with case studies, she was excited to try using them for her business.

But as a fast-growing agency with an incredibly busy team, Tiller Digital lacked both the time and the in-house talent to create case studies on their own.

Chantelle had already experienced how hard it can be to get clients to share detailed feedback beyond a typical testimonial. While clients loved sharing glowing reviews, it was difficult to get into the real detail behind the specifics of what made their experience so positive.

The Solution

As this was Chantelle’s first case study, Case Study Buddy needed to lead the way on formatting and strategy.

Case Study Buddy’s team first interviewed Chantelle to understand how she hoped to use her case studies and which insights were most important to her. They then planned out a series of questions designed to capture that feedback.

After introducing Case Study Buddy to the client, Chantelle’s work was done.

Case Study Buddy arranged the interview and captured everything they needed in less than 45 minutes, all while giving her client the white-glove treatment.

Chantelle received a recording of the interview, giving her access to un filtered insights she never would’ve gotten on her own.

After a quick round of revisions using input from both Chantelle and the client, her first case study was ready in a fraction of the time it would’ve taken in-house or by hiring a lone freelancer.

The Result

Tiller’s business development expert, Bruce Renton, reported that using the company’s case studies made his selling process at least twice as effective.

Chantelle noticed a major improvement in the number and quality of leads she was able to convert by including the case study in her pitching process, and noticed how new leads were referencing the case study during consultations.

Even more astonishing, some of Tiller Digital’s partners began sending Tiller’s case studies to people when referring them to Tiller—without even being asked!

Best of all, the valuable feedback collected from the case study helped Chantelle and her team better understand their own strengths and value to their clients. As a result, they’re far better at communicating those strengths and convincing leads they’re the right choice.

When we go meet leads face to face, they often refer to our case studies and we’ve even heard that they’ve passed it to others. Even people who send us referrals are keeping a copy on hand to pass on to folks that they’re referring, because they believe that the case studies will be what convinces the referral referral to pick up the phone and give us a call.

These case studies have definitely paid for themselves. I really love how they emphasize and quantify the results. They’re a great use of our marketing budget.
